Both current versions of Internet Explorer 5.0 and Netscape Navigator 4.7 support Chinese display, no Chinese system is needed. However, you have to set your browser correctly and your PC should have ,at least, one Chinese font.

If your browser has problem displaying Chinese characters correctly , please do the following:

For Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher:

Click on the "View" button in the tool bar, choose "Encoding" and then choose "Traditional Chinese".

If you still experience difficulty, you may need to upgrade your Internet Explorer to the latest version with  the Traditional Chinese Language Support  ( or with Global IME 5.01 )  at the Microsoft web site. ( Download the Traditional Chinese Language Support or Global IME  will add a few Chinese fonts into your PC OS system. )

For Netscape Navigator 4.7 or higher:

A. Select the Chinese fonts:

1. Click on the "Edit" menu and go to the "Preferences" window,

2. Click on the "Appearance" category to open the sub-categories,

3. Click on the "Fonts" to open the font settings,

4. Next to the "For the Encoding", click on the pull down menu to select " Traditional Chinese ",

5. Next to the "Variable Width Font" : click on the pull down menu to select a Chinese font,

6. Next to the "Fixed Width Font", click on the pull down menu to select the same or another Chinese font.

( Chinese fonts: MS Hei, MS Song, MingLiU etc.... MingLiU is a beautiful font, if your OS system has it. )

7.Click "OK" to accept the settings and close the window.

B. Choose the Character Set  for viewing the web page:

1. Click on the "View" menu and select the "Character Set", choose the "Traditional Chinese (Big 5)".

2. Click on the "Reload" button to refresh the web page.

C. Clear Memory Cache: ( Optional )

Occasionally, the Netscape is still keeping the old image of  the web page, preventing the Chinese displayed correctly. You may try one of the following methods:

1. Click your browser's "Reload" ( or "Refresh" ) button.

2. Or restart your browser.

3. Or restart your computer.

4. Or in the Netscape browser, go to the "Edit" -> "Preferences" -> "Advanced" ->  "Cache" -> "Clear Memory Cache" -> "Clear Disk Cache" -> "OK" to clear it. Then go through B. again.
